I made a thread on the Ghost Squad before but that was when they were just launched and not much was known about them...

Now they were usually identifiable by their "CCT" license plates, so you knew it was the cops and not some imposter with criminal intent. But recently I have seen more and more VW's and Chevy's with hidden blue lights and sirens but with CA licenses.
Now my questions are
1: How legal is this (stopping people in unmarked vehicles with no identifiable features other than the blue lights which anyone with criminal intent can fit)?
2: Do we have to stop for them at all?
3: If no, then how does one signal to them that one is going to drive to a place of safety (police station, garage, etc) and is not trying to evade them?
4: And as asked in my previous thread: Has anyone had any experiences with them? Do share...

1. Legal
2. No
3. Switch on your hazzards, open window and indicate with a hand gesture(no middle finger :-) ) Wave or "follow me sign will do. But drive slower than normal.
4. No

Thanks for your reply... Well that's how it's supposed to work in theory... but in practice?

I stand to be corrected but I think the CA plates might be investigators, but they mostly drive the opel corsa sedans and chevrolet something sedans.

I had a guy in a brown Chevy Cruze (with CA plates) buzz me the other day as I was joining the N2. Don't know what his problem was. I did not drive too fast or cut in dangerously... He pulled up next to me and tried to signal something. I shrugged, then he drove off. It looked like he had police, not traffic, clothes on.

I've seen GTI's and Ford Focus STi's with CA plates... no out-running them (in a normal car at least)...

I have seen a few with the CA number plates around the hospital bend area in Cape Town. Mostly chevvys though and always pulling over taxis
