Giant mouse pads

What's up with all the super big mousepads recently? What are they for? I know some people play with low sensitivity etc but some of them are just insane. Comically big in fact. So, why?

That would be stuff like the Razer Goliathus Alpha size, although there are some that make even that look small.

Mine at home is +/- 30 x 20 I think. Bigger than standard. I like the space to play with over the bigger surface.

I'm assuming you mean cm? If so then yes, I can understand that, but I'm talking about things like the Cyborg Glide 7, which I just bought (because I like the texture), but I didn't realise how enourmous the thing is, it's 40x50cm. There's apparently also one thats 40x90 cm. Why would people want those?
