Gig photo's

I think then I'll keep the 24-70 on the 7D, the 50mm on the 1D and hope for the best.

Take your 70-200 anyway. Some of the shows I've been to, the light was more than enough to get a decent shutter speed at f/4, even at 400 or 800 ISO.

Problem is if I wear my vest to carry it in my missus will mock me :)

Would you rather be mocked or miss the shot?
If I'm in that position having the lens in my pocket is no better than leaving it at home. If I have time to change glass I also have time to shuffle my feet and reposition.

Unless you put it on the 400D and just switch between cameras?

The 400D may not have the high ISO needed to pull it off.

Assistant??? Wife == Boss. I'm sure the organisers would understand. :p
Maybe I'll just buy her a ticket if she's interested in going. Then she can carry the picnic basket :)

Looks like rain this weekend - which in itself would normally be a great thing but since the shoot is outside . . . how good is the weather sealing on the consumer bodies like the 7D?

Canon says the 7D is similar to the 1N (I think) - not sure what that means but from what I've read it's better than the xxD range. And I have to say, my 40D and 50D have seen a lot of water. Last time I was in New York, it happened to be halloween parade and I was stuck in the crowd in pouring rain (the kind of rain they fake in the movies) for a few hours - I was soaked - with the camera hanging over my shoulder. It's still clicking away...

That should help. Now I'll just have to cling film my lenses. :)

I could have actually used the 300mm.

I know its hard to tell but the best ones are spoken for.
