Howdy all,

I took the leap and moved from the little cable release trigger to something way fancier - the Giga T Pro.

It arrives, I unpacked it - plug it all in .... and nothing happens.

So - if anyone has one, can they shed some light if I missed something stupid (before I send it back?).

Things tried:
  • Both receiver and transmitter are on the same channel (I tried all 30 - and turned off my house wifi in case of interference)
  • Plugging the cable into the transmitter - the camera focuses and fires without any issue (rules out transmitter and cable).
  • Battery looks to be fine (LCD display on the receiver is very clear - not like a dead calculator).
  • Plus tried various combinations of camera on, remote on, etc.

Lastly the kicker is - I have 2 SLR's on their list of compatible products - and neither one worked with the receiver/transmitter combo.

I suspect I received a dud of some sort *sob* :(

I also have this remote trigger and found that the cable you plug into the receiver doesn't always make contact with it. I stopped using it and moved to Magic Lantern, way better and more functionality.

Thanks for the feedback Zodiacal. What I did do was plug the provided cable directly into the transmitter (the little remote control section) and then it triggered fine. Thus I think the receiver is the issue. Bummer - cause I wanted to do some time lapse stuff.
I've also prodded Hahnel themselves for troubleshooting steps (but I doubt I'll hear back from them).

ps. I use a Sony DSLR - so Magic Lantern isn't an option sadly.

Update: Item has now been returned ... holding thumbs the next one works.

Try pressing hard on the cable plug where it goes into the receiver whilst pressing the button on the transmitter and see if that triggers a photo. Seems to work for me when it doesn't want to respond.

Update: I've returned the item. I described the issues to Hahnel Ireland and they said it sounded like a defective unit. Hopefully on the week-end I'll get another (first test in-store). cross.fingers

Just a closing comment on this ... I returned the original and was refunded. Bought a replace for R100 less (same model - different store) and it works perfectly. Man - if the weather would only clear up a bit I can go shoot thhings!
