Hi All,

Hope someone here has had experience with the Gigabyte Q2005 Netbook and can give me an idea if there is actually a problem with it. I know netbooks don't has much grunt as a normal laptop which is what i'm used to, but should it really take +/-30 minutes for windows 7 starter to start, as well as about five minutes to launch an application?

This is a brand new netbook, as in i only purchased it this morning and it's not nine hours later...

Thanks in advance
WB

Lol, not even Windows is that slow. I suggest you take it back to where you purchased it.

How much RAM do you have in it? 1GB?

My guess would be that it's either busy with Windows Updates, or that you're running out of RAM, and then the laptop is using the HDD for memory, which would me incredibly slow.

Using Windows' Task Manager to check for free memory, and what application is using the CPU would already be a good start.

With something like CPU-z, you can check whether your CPU is running at its designed speed of 1.5GHz/1.66GHz.

The netbooks can take like 5 minutes to start Windows 7, but even that is quite long for it though.

Update the BIOS.

There's a few Gigabyte models that cause problems that are fixed when the BIOS is updated.

Think this might be one of them.
