Hey guys, I just bought a giganews account and I am only managing to push around 10kb/sec on my 4mb line. Anyone else having issues on the news servers? Everything else is fine.

You know that you can get a 14-day trial at Giganews, instead of just going ahead and buying the account straight away!
I've done the trial on Mweb uncapped a few weeks ago and the speed (both encrypted and unencrypted protocols) was appalling in office hours (like 2kB/s), so I stopped the trial account and went with the free/local news servers instead.
The only advantage that you'll get from the international news servers would be from downloading files that aren't cached on the local servers, during after hours of course.

Yup. If you're an Mweb user and you're bypassing their shaping for a few months in a row, they'll terminate your account and prohibit you from ever using Mweb again!
