Girl kills instructor with Uzi

Nothing wrong with teaching kids to use a firearm. Doing so with the greatest of care though should be key. I'm not saying hand out guns and teach them. I would rather have my kids know how to use a firearm safely than stumble on one somewhere and get injured or killed trying to play with it.

I agree it looked like the instructor switched to either burst or full auto the second time.
So I would agree with it might have been a bad instructor.

I would rather teach my children to respect any firearm in the house and the proper use of one then not teach them at all.

I learned to shoot (under close supervision) when the rifle was bigger than me and my kids were all competent with a Browning Hi-Power by the age of eight.

I dont see how you going to teach a 6 - 11 year old to respect a weapon. They are going to be curious, they are going to do something stupid! That is the nature of being a child. Sure, when the child is older and can understand the consequences better perhaps. But if someone is going to be leaving a gun lying around the house with a young child like this running around, then either you should not be owning a gun, or you should not be having children.

I do not have issue with people owning their own gun (though I would frown at you if you told me you own a UZI lol) , but I do not support 9 year old's being taught to shoot deadly weapons like this. Let them play with toys. Let them be kids! Kids are already growing up way to fast and being exposed to things at such a young age. Why add to that? If you really want to teach your child to shoot and aim properly, then get him/her a windbuks at the age of 13 or so. Not teach her to shoot a UZI at the age of 9 for god's sakes! :mad:
 
9 years olds and Uzi's lol.

Probably the worlds least safe weapon in the hands of a 9 year old, a winning combination for sure.

There are firearms which are suitable for that type of thing, but an uzi is definitely are not one of them. Full auto + a little panic = high probability something can go wrong

That would depend on the child entirely and if they really understand what they are dealing with.

I was firing R1's at around that age in the prone position, and a multitude of other weapons.
I had my own .22 Blackhawk revolver with side holster, John Wayne style :D and a .22 Savage rifle, just needed a horse :D

I agree fully. It's also against the law in SA to own an Automatic rifle. My son has shot a Glock 9mm, a 270 as well as a 12 gauge shot gun. He's 8 years old. He has probably shot more 9mm rounds than most people will do in their lifetime. I don't store my ammo for longer than a year. Then we go to the farm and shoot it all out once I have bought new ones.

I'm 100% confident my kid will not mess with a gun. He has no urge to... He shoots enough on the farm.
 
The poor kid is gonna be skrewed up for a long time when the magnitude of this sinks in.
