Glamping: Know any good sites?

Anyone know of good Fixed-Tent camping sites around Gauteng (Mpumalanga, North West, Limpopo, Free-State and KZN).

I'm not looking for the luxury tents, just a basic fixed-tent with the essentials - maybe a small kitchen, outside ablution is fine.

I don't want to start spending thousands for camping gear and trailer only to use it 1-2 times per year, but still want to give the kids the experience of enjoying a typical camping site.

Why don’t you look at renting an off road trailer? Then you can basically camp where ever

We used to go to Umoya often when I still had the Offroad Caravan. Previously owned by the same owners as Mbizi, but I see that has now changed.

With limited leave, I don't want to waste time getting the trailer, driving a few hours longer, and then still having to set the thing up - I want a "koop n loop" experience.

Perfect if you have a tow bar and the right car. Not so much if not.

Got a tow-bar but not off road.

The tented camps SANParks offers isn't bad. We went with people who stayed in one last year August-ish, and it was pretty damn awesome. Lock-up kitchen area, with own bathroom, with a toilet, basin and shower. AC in the room. Little roofed area to start your gas cooker or whatever you want there. A tad expensive, but highly recommended.

Ha ha -if the real fancy ones cost the same than I will consider. But I still want to have that real camping experience minus the setup of the tent and the painful taking down, cleaning and drying of it all afterwards.

Have a look at Africamps as well. Most of there camps are in the south. But they have some in KZN as well. Very nice indeed.
