Which is the best?

Which is suited for what?

Any comments?

Matte

Use outside of a controlled work environment.

My first MacBook Pro was a matte anti-reflection, and my second MacBook Pro that i bought last year is also matte. I cant handle looking at reflections of everything behind me on the screen

I went for the high res anti glare option on my Macbook Pro and the difference between the screen and the glossy standard display is worth every cent. Matte for sure.

So what MATT external displays are there that are recommended? In the R2000 range, if possible.

I think for a desktop the situation is different since you're more likely to be able to control the environment around you.

First laptop I had had a matte screen.

Now working on one with a glossy screen, hate the reflections. Prefer matte for that reason.

Glossy screen isn't that bad if the conditions/surroundings accommodate it.
