My gf's noticed guys putting up those posters on the telephone polls etc and a bit later, noticed a mess on the car's bonnet. Its not bird poo, but rather some sort of glue.

I have been able to get most of it off, but I fear scratching the paint if I try to rub harder.

Any idea's on how to safely remove stubborn stains off the car?

try using a hairdrier to heatup the glue/stuff
or clean green or something like that

Does that clean green stuff really work. The last time I tried it it didn't work as wonderfully as I thought it might. And it was getting sticky labels off a jar or something

Jacob, is that you? :wtf:

Use some paraffin, should dissolve the glue without dissolving the paint... Used it to remove tar from my car some time back, just rinse it off completely when your done if left for too long on the car it can damage the paint.

Petrol should work perhaps better as most brands is quality controlled not to cause paint damage.

I once took my car back to the guy who sprayed it and told him the paint's lifting.

Turned out to be tree sap :o

Use some 80gritt floor paper and a rotary sander.

Then polish it with Brasso afterwards :p

I used oil lubricant in a spray can to successfully remove hardened residue left by double-sided tape where a numberplate had been stuck to the car.

I let it soak for a few minutes before rubbing the glue off. Worked brilliantly!

Use brake fluid

O pls dear Lord tell me you know I'm joking.

PLS DON'T PUT BRAKE FLUID ON ANY PAINT ANYWHERE!!!!!!

LOL..........some weird stuff here I normally use Polish diamond or or something like dat.........then buff it off or u can even use some easy off bang.........lmao.......kidding........use some turps wont damage the car and btw what colour is da car also?

Do NOT use clean green on paint, it will dull it.

Use paraffin to remove foreign substances like tar etc.

lol, too late, used cleangrean today. that and alot of elbow grease worked.
Paint looks fine. I also bought that diamond guard wash and polish which ill be doing tomorrow.

is polish the same as wax? whats the difference. and whats the best?

I have found that most glue is soluble in ether or chloroform.
Methylated spirits (without bread) sometimes helps with the poorer quality glues.
