So, I am loving my Moto Defy powered by Android. :D

Question though about Gmail again on Android. When I send a email to someone from my phone, it will go through, but the same email will appear in my Inbox as "From Me to whoever"

It is a bit irritating. Gmail never used to do this with my Blackberry. I have looked on my Defy's email client and on Gmail web client and dont see a setting that could be causing this.

Do you guys know about this? How do I make it stop doing it?

Aaah so you getting a copy of the mail send from your phone in your inbox both web and mobile clients.

Question: if you send an email from the web this does not happen?

Ja...does exactly the same thing when I send from the web interface of Gmail also! Sent from the web interface...and then opened my email client (Evolution) and ta da....the same email comes through to my inbox! urg!

isn't there maybe a setting that lets your emails be diplayed as conversations? in gmail (web) it does that. however, if i send an email from my phone it appears twice in the conversation on the web. i just pretend the second one doesn't exist. :)

How do I switch it off? It is fcking irritating the crap out of me!

I saw the other day somewhere in Gmail's settings something along the lines of "always BCC me" maybe thats the setting currently active on your email?

Are you using the gmail app on the phone, or another email app? Since you mention that Evolution is your mail client on the laptop, I used to have the same issue. I needed to create a filter (in Evolution) to put all those emails into the Sent folder...

Its default Gmail pop settings, This is done for people that use more than one client to get mail.

The setting allows Outlook and other mail clients to also have your sent to items on all of them when you pop.

How this problem can be sorted:
1 use IMAP on the clients as it gives the same functionality with less hassle.
2 Keep on using pop but set a filter locally that either move them to send mail if your client doesn't do this or delete them if you dont care about it.
3 Turn off the resend options inside Gmail settings under pop.

Have you got the latest GMail app installed?

By default the GMail app will not update automatically or offer to install the latest version on your phone, you need to go to the Android Market, search for GMail and click install.

I am not using the Gmail app...I am using the email client one instead. I like it a bit more :-)

But Elimentils suggestion of switching to Imap have sorted me out. :-)

Yes, I must agree, the GMail app is horrible. And you would think it would be the coolest looking and functioning, since it's a Google OS...... tsk tsk
