Is the originating IP address not in the mail header?
If it was sent from gmail it will be a Google IP.
Question: Is there some sort of malware that she could send the sender that would put a spanner in the works of this sycophant? Would his/her/their Gmail account accept an attachment containing malware? And if yes... Where would one get ones grubby hands on such a bit of sneakyness?

Its not incriminating. Its just downright lewd and disgusting.
Have advised her to send a "What the HELL is wrong with you? Gmail gave me your IP address after i forwarded them the mail you sent me etc etc" type email and then personally address it to the top 20 people she believes may have an axe to grind. Lets hope she can flush out the culprit.
Well then report it as spam, and it will be moved to the spam folder in future. Not sure what the crisis is here...
