I have two gmail accounts on my phone using the android gmail app. The first one I get push email, but the other one doesn't notify me when its received email even though the settings are the same.

Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with iPhone, stopped using Gmail on my iPhone due to it annihilating my labels. On Android I have two accounts, both push, but only my primary (active) account relays the push message, but it works in receiving my mail.

Perhaps a setting or device?

Mine is the same as that. It appears in the inbox but the only way I know about it is if I go into the actual app and look. I want a notification.

On a related note trying to integrate / find a sense of congruence between Microsoft and Google isn't fun. Maybe I should ditch android and buy a windows phone.

It was never a concern to me as only the work email is important to me, however you can change within the Gmail app to enable notifications, primary and default inbox on the additional mailboxes. Tested and it works.

I have notifications set on both... Only the first one I get an icon in the notification bar and sound.

Why not forward mail from one to the another and set up some filters?

Or is this perhaps a work vs personal situation?

I was doing that, but then there are duplicate mails.

And I can't delete the mails once forwarded because when I reply I have to go to the email in the correct account as gmails option to send from another address is crap.

Only setting I can think off is perhaps make sure that auto-sync is enabled for both accounts.

That would be in settings > accounts > google > specific google account. Check if Gmail is ticked.

I'm sure your more way more than silly old me though. :P

But this is what I missed when I had this issue a few months back.

Im having the same problem.
I have two accounts but neither will refresh/sync. Gmail will sync maybe once a day. Auto sync is enabled

I've never had this problem - I have 3 accounts and all work perfectly. Screenshot of gmail settings of the non-syncing account?
