I just visited goal.co.za - Looks very interesting. It sounds as if they don't have a problem with international bandwidth if you look at the their packages and prices. (Very very good compared to Telkom) .. Anybody know where they get their international bandwidth from? If it's from Telkom then I get the idea that their service will probably be similar to Sentech. (not the fastest where Telkom ADSL outperforms Sentech's offerings) - By thinking quick I get the idea that Sentech's contention ratio's aren't that good due to them offering unlimited bandwidth or a softcap and the major problem being expensive international bandwidth from Telkom.

Thanks

What would be interesting to know about the broadband over power lines is whether or not there are any restricting factors when it comes to the signal and the possible interference of the power within the household. Would transformers cause any problem? and with the equipment they give you to get started, can u create a homenet on the grip with those devices?

Sentech's soft cap! I've experienced that and still wonder what is actually soft about it. Sure, one day they phoned me and the next month they cut me off. They do not have a site where one can check bandwidth usage if you are on the standard MyWireless contract with Sentech (not Nowire). Eventually, they did get such a site, but it is not running, and has not been in operarion for at least a year...
After many hours on the phone with several of their customer care operators, I was assured that they would retract the warnings issued to me, for exceeding the cap. The next month I was cut off again!
Of course the site where one can check bandwidth usage is still not operating...

when u reach your softcap, it will only run at 56K +-

Just a thought about running broadband via power lines. That means you will be reliant on Escom instead of Telkom!!! If you thought Telkom was bad, please, please God, don't make us having to rely on Escom for something as sophisticated as internet communications!
Here is a possible scenario: the countries internet communications are down. Escom's explaination: "Sorry, but someone dropped a spanner in a very expensive gadget somewhere in Koeberg."
Minister of energy's explaination: "There is no problem!"
