I decided to withdraw R300 about 30 minutes ago and back at the office I noticed something was written in the top left corner of one R100 note with a red pen. What the hell?

huh? that's strange. maybe the bank did it? some sort of check mechanism

Take it to the bank or contact the Reserve Bank with your suspicions. Remember the note is legal tender.

If you think thats bad - I got a place holder from the ATM instead of R100 notes once. (FNB)

Looks like a serial number, the TQYN seems very familiar for some weird reason..
anyways, use it at a club or a pub. Even most restaurants dont check

TQYN is part of a windows key that I have at home.. Maybe you have one somewhere as well. If yours is for windows ultimate 64, we can exchange keys.. Haha!

What does it matter? Lots of notes have marks on them, ink marks, letters/words someone wrote on them. They still get accepted.

Not always, i have had ink and written on notes rejected at certain establishments.
But I agree, most places dont really care.

A note I had was ripped in half, I cellotaped it back together, Spar accepted it. Years later I think I got that same one back :D
