Yeah, it installed and plays fine on my regular (non-gaming) i5-powered laptop ... the graphics are so low on this that it could run on a calculator, lol.

Interesting giveaway to promote GOG Galaxy, they had it as a giveaway in the early GOG days as well. System Shock 2 is currently being remastered or reimagined as the developers termed the updated game. They are also working on System Shock 3. System Shock 1 was already enhanced last year, System Shock: Enhanced Edition.

The System Shock 2 page on GOG has a comment with a list of mods that are out for the game, for everything from HD textures to even an HD soundtrack. Honestly not too bothered with any of that, I think the crappy graphics are the whole point of the experience anyway.

It's GOG, they put effort into making old games run on new platforms. It's a god company to support.

I've never purchased from gog.com before.

Do you basically just signup, and purchase whatever game you want, download it and install it?

No "Gog client" needed correct?

In a nutshell, I can buy my games on their site, download it and burn it to DVD's to re-install on ANY computer WHENEVER I want.

Am I correct?

( Not like STEAM where you need the STEAM client to play games you've purchased through STEAM ).

Exactly like that. All games are DRM free so you can do with them what you want as long as you don't give them away. And like someone mentioned if it's on GoG you can be reasonably sure it works on the newest system, even if they have to twist the arm of the developer to make a patch.
