gogga connect

Also just saw, but their data rates are cheaper than vodacom. And also I saw they sell gprs connection but u have to buy a gprs modem.

They are basically just selling exorbitant priced GPRS/3G internet access.

In the ad it seems as if you can get working wireless internet for only R75 per month. But this is misleading advertising. For the R75 per month you do not get a working internet connection.

You also have to sign a 24 month contract. The activation fee is R685. Then you pay R2 per MB of bandwidth. Even way more expensive than Telkom's R 0.08 per MB of ADSL bandwidth.

I seriously don't expect them to be around for long. They are trying to cover up their exorbitant prices with misleading advertising. Most people will not fall for this.

most ppl fell for MWeb ....

the only time u score with gogga is if u excede your data lmit on the bigger packages the bill the same rate per meg out of bundle as in bundle so lower than R2 per meg but u have to buy the modem/data card outright and sign a 24 month contract at R675 per month. Straight form voda is free card and R600 a month. and if u use more than a gig a month add on bundles.

They have been around for quite a while now. Initially you paid a premium for higher than Vodacom rates. But they stated they are "continuously negotiating lower rates". Since then the price has dropped to be more inline with Vodacom's data rates for high data usage and you get the same out of bundle rate as the in bundle rate. They are keeping their promises so far. Should keep an eye on them...

Netsurf20 - 20MB of data a month for R110 on a 24 month contract. Am i missing something??? What are you supposed to do with 20MB a month??

Its GSM/3G.
I had a 10MB data bundle on my Cellphone, and I only went over it once.

SSH, Mail, and a little bit of web browsing.

The thing is that you pay the same amount for out of bundle data than for in bundle data. So on the larger bundles it's more cost effective if you don't know exactly how much you will use. ;) But you're right about 20MB not being a lot considering you have to pay a monthly subscription just for access to the service. I don't see them really going anywhere in the future with Virgin charging 50c/mb. They will probably stay a step behind as just after they dropped their prices Vodacom also announced a price drop. Keep your eye on Virgin.

I’m one of those people who use my internet fairly regularly, but mostly for forums and other stuff that don’t move much data. I recon that 75 MB would be more than enough for me.

My current internet costs (I have a dail-up connection) are roundabout this:
Telkom line hire +call costs: R200 p.m.
ISP: R85 p.m.
That is about R285 per month.

As I see it (help me if I’m wrong), the pricing I saw today on Gogga’s web site would change my costs to this:
A once-off R499
A monthly R163
ISP: Nothing

As I see it, (help me if I’m wrong), Telkom ADSL, which Franna claims is cheaper, will cost me:
A once-off R404
A monthly R 245 line hire.
Plus a monthly R whatever ADSL fee
Plus a small fee per MB moved.

So tell me: What would you recommend as the cheapest option for me? I definitely don’t have the best option now!

Virgin mobile - r0.50 per mb. No contract. Just need a good enough cellphone that connects to your computer and your set.

Strangely I have to concur with the people here for once - Virgin Mobile. For your R285 dial-up cost you can get 570mb. Best of all there's no contract you have to submit to and you keep all your airtime for 3 months since your last recharge so use small vouchers if you don't use a lot. A sim pack costs R89 with R50 airtime included. But watch out for the problems with the data cards from the other networks.

Thank you very much! I will switch to Virgin as soon as I find out all the details.

Yeah get virgin
and spread the word there are so many uninformed south africans
