Gogga in my Ear!

So lately I have been a wee bit deaf.....

My father had the same affliction , but this was from decades of working in compressor workshops....

My ears feel blocked, I was told it was more than likely from all the swimming I do.....

Somebody told me that he went to a Doc in the Mother city who "washed" his ear and landed up removing a ball of gunk.... his hearing felt reborn....

Now we do not have capable doctors up here, can one clean your own ears ?

Last night I felt something move in my ear,,, I managed to get it out..... it looked like a flattened gogga....

Whilst I was lying in the dark, I noticed an ant walk past my illuminated Ipad screen, I killed him with great force.... got me to wondering who else was wandering around me ear canals in the middle of the nicht!

Question: Can I clean my own ears like the Docs in the city do, or must i go and seek pro help?
 
Syringe of warm water
Squirt in, let drain
Repeat as necessary

Don't use cold water unless you like pain.

ps if you have a lot of wax buildup you can get stuff for softening/dissolving it, over the counter.

Quite a big syringe too...

Had this done by the doc once - strangest feeling ever - and being able to hear properly again was amazing :D
 
Been down this road...
Went nearly stone deaf...

What came out of my ear was a 8mm x 4mm, disgusting looking cylinder of ear wax, they had to gouge it out with forceps...
 
Saline solution better than water.

Be very gentle squirting it in.

Do it once, leave it for a few minutes, do it again.

Saline does not dissolve wax though
 
Doctor can syringe your ears .
I had it done a while ago , you are like a new man after that , the whole world crackles :D

Don't use water that is too warm either, stick to around body temperature. Don't use to much force, gently does it.
 
yeah I had that done to me a couple of years ago. A huge wax plug fell out. Felt pretty cool.

They say that using cotton ear buds actually pushes ear wax deeper a lot of the time.
 
I have been told to use olive oil to clean out your ears. Google it, recommended widely.

Over the counter you can buy a product called Waxol for dissolving ear wax.
 
I have to do it every six months or so. 10 drops of Waxsol in each ear, for two nights. Then squirt each ear a few times with about body temperature water and the biggest syringe you can find. I love the feeling. Feels like I'm scratching an itch in my brain.
 
Morty just ask your pharmacy for an ear cleaning solution.

You normally put it in and then put some cotton wool in and then sleep with it overnight.

Works wonders.

Failing that ear buds don't actually seem to be made for purpose at all and often make it worse pushing stuff deeper into your ear. I found a cheap hair clip (ask the wife) does the job much better and you can "hook" stuff with the back of it much easier.

I'm talking about these ones.

Use the rounded back part. Obviously don't go pushing it through your ear drum.
 
in the old days the people used Peroxide. Put a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide into ears, wait a minute or two, then follow up with a couple of drops of olive oil. Wait another minute, then drain fluid from ears to remove ear wax.

Waxsol! That's the one. Just couldn't get onto the name.
 
Guys... be careful of messing with your own ears. You can do a lot of dammage.

I have the same problem and I visited the ENT the other day to have it sorted. He had a cool vacume cleaner that sucked it all out... good as new.

Its much better than the old syringe method.

It felt like I was on acid afterwards... I could hear ants walking. faaark !
 
Waxsol does not always work and you have to visit the doc to syringe the wax.
She advised us to use some olive oil in the ear for a few days to soften/loosen the wax and then syringe it.

Same here. If I don't it can get pretty bad. Once ended up practically deaf for a few months before I discovered the waxsol syringe method.
 
Thanks for all the advice folks....

So in essence, I should get some Waxsol and a big syringe....... give it a bash, if no joy then the next time that I am in the big bad city, pop into a ENT Doc!

Big Enough For a Gogga Race.....

I went across the road to our local pharmacy, was I impressed to see in the middle of nowhere, they stock Waxsol...... R90.00 , as for the syringe, they reckon you don't need to syringe your ear....it's dangerous, Waxsol overnight, dissolves alles and then i the morning, the goo should flow out.......

Won't be tonight, as I don;t think boozin' and Waxsol should mix, might wake up with cotton wool in me nostrils!
