Hi Guys

I have been on the Gautrain a couple of times (mostly to the airport), so it's time to take the kids.
I just want to do a round trip from Rosebank to Hatfield and back. My question is, if I scan in at Rosebank, and scan out at the same station, what happens fare wise?
We won't scan out at Hatfield.

Well it is time-stamped every time, so I reckon a deduction will happen, whether or not you get out at Hatfield or not, so might as well get out at Hatfield and go have a walk around. Sunday mornings are great, since most of the students has just gone to bed and are still drunk to come out.

Lol, you say that like the students are dangerous wild animals

The Gautrain billing system works on a minimum deduction basis which is later followed by a refund when the system knows where you went and what it should have cost.

When you swipe your Gautrain Gold Card at Rosebank station, there will be a deduction from credit on the card (I think it is about R25), if you then do your round trip and only swipe your card at Rosebank on the way out, there will be no refund credited to the card.

The same applies if you swipe in and immediately swipe out (there is no refund for stupidity).
