Hi All

What do you think i could sell my pc for?

I am going to work overseas for 2 years.

Intel i7 2600 @ 3.4GHZ
Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 2GB
Asus Maximus IV extreme Mobo P67
2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance Memory @ 1600mhz
NZXT Phantom 410 Full Chassis (supports EATX motherboards)
1 x Crucial MX100 256gb SSD
1 x 1.5 TB Hard drive
2 x 1 TB hard Drives
2 x 500 GB hard drives
DVD Writer
Monitor - ACER 27 inch LED (S271HL)

Debating individually wrapping up components or taking up the monitor???

I took out the graphics card, stuffed the inside of the PC quite tightly with newspaper balls and plastic to stop the components moving around. I then took the graphics card separately in its box. The reason for removing the graphics card is that it can damage the motherboard from moving around.
I then took the case and wrapped it in glad wrap, then put it in the cases box with the polystyrene and wrapped the box up a few times with tapes etc.
Took my pc box as a check in bag and took the graphics card in my hand luggage.
I am now happily in Europe without a single broken component. I did not take my screen though.

Yeah i'm going to Belgium so also Europe.
My chassis with everything in it weights 19kg. Its a full tower to support my EATX mobo. (so if i took everything including monitor, thats 25kg out of my 30kg allowance)

Did you pay extra for more baggage or did you take like no clothes haha.

My wife and I flew together so we put all our clothing in her bag and my PC was my check in bag.
I also put my mouse and headphones, etc. inside the case before stuffing it. My pc is only a half tower and weighs about 15kg so I managed. I didn't do any stopovers so not sure if that will make a difference.
I also took my hand luggage and extra item that you allowed at maximum size.

The people at JHB international put a sticker on it that it was fragile, etc. and they put it through special luggage for no extra cost. I have no idea how much taking it as an extra bag would cost. Some people recommend to DHL it to your address in Europe but that sounds costly.

Yeah shipping it or sending it via courier for my pc tower is 5k

Considering my flight there was only 4.1k. Im flying Qatar airlines so it will stopover once in Doho Airport.
As far as i know, the luggage is automatically taken across onto the connecting flight.

Yeah it is, I was just thinking that its 1 more loading point where it will get thrown around. But mine survived very well with no damage.
Selling and rebuying might not be a bad idea but its also going to cost you quite a lot.

Yeah i know but depends on how much someone would pay for the entire pc???

Any takers?

I wanted to take my PC over but there was just no way. Had a respectable Gaming PC: a coolermaster 690 case with 32" + 24" LED screens, razor mouse, SSD HDD, the works.

Now my mom plays solitaire on it. :/

But yeah, cost of taking it all over and risking damage vs just buying everything new this side with new warranties and return policies would've been marginally more expensive...plus a free upgrade. Not to mention a different power supply here in Europe.

If you have brand new components, I would consider just wrapping them up and taking them along instead of the entire case.
