So I stopped playing GW about a year or more ago and think it's about time I get back into it. I've been playing Warhammer online since it came out last year and although i've been enjoying it I haven't had as much fun playing as what I did when I use to play GW. GW is just a flat out fun and enjoyable game. Another reason is that I was waiting for GW2 but since there's no sign of that till 2010-2011 :( (correct me if im wrong?), Im going to get back into GW.

So what's been happening?

Is there still a lot of action and are the populations high?

I have prophecies and nightfall, which one is busier lately?

This forum seems to have died, but do you all still play even though there's not much going on here?

Now I just have to wait till Monday to play since i've almost reached my monthly cap :(

A huge changes, better, revise updates story on GWW, it will tell you more than me...

Yes, kind of it is same, but they changed action methods now due to updates.

Prophecies are long, and Nightfall is busiest after end of game.

Looking forward to playing again. I dont have eye of the north or factions though, are either of those particularly good? Maybe i should go out and get them since I only have prophecies and nightfall.

Does factions or eye of the north use heroes? Why I ask is that I dont particularly like heroes. I prefer making parties with people and enjoying the interaction of a real party, not just heroes.

Anyone know where guild wars can still be bought in JHB? I looked online at btgames and look and listen and they dont stock it anymore.

Cannot say anything about Factions or EoTN. Factions do not have heroes, but you can use heroes there. EoTN have extra 10 heroes of each profession.

I had the same problem with buying GW chapter, so I had to check all known computer shops... And then found a special shop for gaming stuffs only (forgot name) where I got my chapter.
 
Turns out I have Factions already. I now remember that I bought the key online (so I dont have the box/cd's etc).

So i've now started a Necro in Nightfall. Good to be back again :)

I am keen to get started in Guild Wars but I am not sure which box set I should buy? Wantitall.co.za even has a collector's edition for R8881!!
 
Well Guild Wars came out in the following order:

1st - Prophecies
2nd - Factions
3rd - Night Fall
4th - Eye of the North

The 1st 3 are essentially standalone games while the 4th is an expansion. Personally I would recommend playing them in that order, from 1st to 4th. But you dont have to, they can be played in any order. Once you have all of them and have attained the required level, you can go between them from within the game since each game is essentially a different part of the world which you can travel to.

So if you want to get all of them, just shop around for the cheapest price. Otherwise start with whichever one you want and go from there.

I loved the game and same as Rissen started playing Warhammer while waiting for GW2, it's just not the same, but doesn't seem if GW2 is gonna happen soon, so I'm thinking of getting back into it as well. There is a couple of dungeons i haven't done in GWEN.

I think I may still have you on my Friends list somewhere! :)

The game has changed quite a lot, skills / elites changing, a BIG 4th Year Anniversary update in April, which introduced several new items - Pet Menagerie, Zaishen Battles, more rewards, char makeovers (have to buy), etc etc.

The population is not as high as it used to be though.

NF and EotN is probably the busiest with the American dists being the busiest of all, especially for trading.
ANet is still selling GW accounts though because a lot of people have multiple accounts to gather more in-game rewards via PvP prediction voting and farming methods.
