Golf 6 GTI Product Info

its become impossible for him to not annoy people..

I also love how he hasn't realised that his R700k house... is probably ultimately worth about R750k now.... maybe R800k.. and in 10 years time, if the market goes the way its looking, it'll be worth less than he paid for it.

What he obviously doesn't realise is that in reality he is probably paying 800k in interest on the bond alone. Eeejit.

Nice try guys :D

Firstly, ToxicBunny, you are clearly in the lead of The Most Annoying Race, but I am happy to be in close second. Secondly my house is worth R1.1m+ and I only needed a R700K bond because I can actually plan finacially. I laid down a massive deposit and the banks were only too happy to give me prime-2. Thirdly, this is Stellenbosch, the one place where property prices just keep on growing even in dire economic times. Lastly, I have a very good contract so if I one day pitch up at home in a VW and my wife decided to divorce me for lack of taste she will leave with as much as she entered :p (not much).

Sounds like carp to me...

A prime -2 interest rate is nothing special. For the record, I purchased my car at a fixed 5 percent - and there's a guaranteed buy back. As someone who spends up to 9 hours a day in a car, I would much rather spend extra on the car than a house. Houses are not the awesome investment tools every South African seems to think they are. Some of the biggest tragedies in the sub prime crisis is the complete erradication of wealth by effectively reducing the value of people's homes. Housing bubbles burst and when they do they destroy livelihoods. When people lose their cars, they're in trouble but can recover - when they lose their houses, they're pretty much ****ed.

If you are bonded (unlike the truly wealthy and very capable managers of money amongst us) then you will probably not realise a profit in real terms. The installment you're paying @ 7k per month over 20 years equates to R1.4 million. And you reckon your house is worth 1.1 million now? Fine - now go and have a look what you will get with R400k in an envrionment where just qualifying for a new homeloan is a big hassle.

This is all relevant to a motoring forum how? I agree with the others: you are the most annoying person on the forum - it looks like your sole aim here is to annoy...

Mission accomplished :p

EDIT : You spend up to 9 hours a day in your car? Eish - maybe get some qualification and get a normal job :D You'll be atleast 50CentsWorth then.

there needs to be a house and home forum :) where people can talk about their bonds, plumbing issues at home etc lol . . . Back on topic. A friend ordered a gti R338k with s/r apparently it comes std with 18s and xenons. Any one can confirm pricing. Said he is getting it in june.

I call it out as a lie... We always get the GTi a few months after the rest of the model range. I also dont think dealers will start quoting customers with the current markets being the way they are and before the car even launches and with extras lol!! But 338k sounds right, but still not sure.

like i said dont know if the guy is "telling a fib" or not ... driving an M3 when it comes to cars lotsa people lie to me :)

How do to handle it? Interests sake... I cant handle random people just talking to me about cars when I can tell they not that informed...

The Polo is actually quite nice..... took a friend's GTI for a drive last week.... amazing power (above 2500rpm. Below that it's sluggish in 2nd).

Lol thats kinda the point...
Might be odd comparing a PGTi and the new M3s...
But theyve both been highly under rated in the media, mostly the PGTi.
People think its the same 110kw in the MK4 and it doesnt deserve the badge wararararar wah.

But people that know PGtis and VW know its very decent car with lots of potential... easy power can be made from it...

Was asking Adam anyway...
What do you drive Mr 2cents?

Someone who drives a PGTi doesn't get random people trying to talk to them about cars,

and JK8, often you've shown yourself to be not that informed about cars either.

I still don't get why anyone (let alone a random person, as you put it) would lie to you. You're probably taking far too much credit...

I drive an Audi S3 (2007) and an older Volvo S40 2.4 (2005). I drove a Polo before I got the Volvo, and althought the PGTi may have gained some street cred, I won't change my mind on it being a load of crap.

That and I know the type of people Adam was talking about. Those trying to impress M3 drivers...

Maybe I am, but I still like proving them wrong about the potential of the car!:)

S3? Nice, post some pics??

How is it a load of crap? the brakes suck and the suspension is below par. But those are easy mods and can be done to my spec.
Otherwise it rocks!

**blink**
you're kidding, right? You need more reasons?

I don't know if things improved, but the service I got from VW sucked ass. Really bad ass at that. My car was replaced under factory warranty thanks to a persistent clutch problem. The replacement was only done after several months of constant complaining, letters to every senior VWSA executive and manager I could find, and weeks of the car being in for repairs. They claimed it was a "bad batch". Needless to say, my experience with Polo (and VW) has tarnished my impression of them forever.

If things have really improved, I wouldn't know, 'cos I won't touch a Polo even if anyone paid me.
