I just went at test drove the Golf R on Saturday. I think it might be time to replace the R32 for its newer younger brother!
This car is seriously quick and while it may lose some charasmatic aspects that the N/A 3.2 V6 of the R32, its definitely an overall improvement.
Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Pricing is good and is the reason i'm seriously considering it. Its come in cheaper than the outgoing R32 by quite a margin.

manual goes for $48,000 / R312,000
DSG goes for $50,000 / R325,000

Specs are 199kw. 0-100 in 5.5 for DSG, 5.7 for manual. 250km/h

It looks really good in the flesh. far more agressive than the R32

They got it before us, and look at that price!!!

I cannot wait for these cars to arrive. Want one!!!!! Either one, but would love the Scirocco

I dunno if it was the 5, but I could swear I saw a 6 R on William Nicol on Friday

I didn't get much of a chance to check it out, but could have sworn it had the R on the front grill and was sure it was the Golf 6.

Maybe I am loosing me marbles :( :D

Is it possible someone could have imported one perhaps?

Let's hope it stays down under. Actually it would be dumb to bring it to SA because when the new Astra OPC comes no one will want a slow ass SchafeWagen anyways

He ain't that bad, I actually liked his pro-VAG-ness and all that, by far more tame than some of the others :D

You right. The previous OPC was so successful that opel almost went insolvent. Ask any car editor whether they'd choose a GTI or an OPC, the GTI would win easily. Then factor in the extra power of the new R...
Maybe you will understand why you see so many GTi 5's and 6's on the road and so few of the Over Powered Cheapies.

The last gen OPC did have its problems, and handling was one of them. But I think the new model will be a lot better especially taking into account the Watt's Link rear suspension that will improve the ride quality. Hopefully the torque steer will also be sorted now.
