Hi

I need help with my swing and am looking at various training aids to help. I remember seeing a product where you attach a velcro sticker to the club and then hit an adhesive ball that sticks to the club. This helps show which part of the club face you actually hit the ball with. I looked around and can't seem to find it, does anyone know of it still exists? Alternatively what other good driving training aids are out there to help practice at home.

I wish it was that simple.
My suggestion is to begin with go see a pro and check everything first ie, stance, swing, clubs and posture.
Once you know all the basics start practicing on your own before you get habits you cannot break.

Why don't you post a video of your swing. Surely there is a pro on mybb that can help.

There is such a device he's talking about I have also seen it before. There was a TV add for it. I just can't recall it's name. It's a soft ball that sticks to the club to show where you hit the ball on your swing. I think it was/is an SA invention too. Trying to remember which Golfer endorsed it.

Yip I remember that gadget, however if the basics aren't correct then the golf will go from bad to worse and eventually giving up all hope. eg Are his clubs right for him, I seen it so many times that guys have all the prospects of becoming single handicaps but the clubs they are using are just kark and there is no chance of good golf with using the clubs. (make, shaft, heel/toe, off set etc)

I suppose you could use the gadget to get your distance from ball and swing consistent though.

I haven't been in the Pro Shop/Golfers World etc for a while now because I spend too much and I don't need to. So I don't know if they still have them. If not try Sportsmans Wharehouse it's the sort of gadget they would sell.

Driving range, driving range, driving range...
Do slow swinging(visualization) as well to learn to hit the ball in the centre.
Don't try and hit hard, thats when you're going to pull shots to your left(assuming right hand player) and push it right and look like a spraygun.
Also try and get someone who's played a long time to help you.
I didn't have too much help other than played cricket, tennis, squash, soccer most of my live.
The Golf just came naturally.

It's more than just your swing.

Make in roads into looking your stance, weight placement, how you breathe, grip.

Also, when I still played golf I had my clubs, weight correctly and had my club shaft sizes proportional to my height at the time.

Main thing you can do is take your time, and try and minimize your frustrations.

I have guffed up many a lay up due to rushing and growing frustrated.

Also, if playing golf is causing you knots in your shoulders...rest. Rethink. Coaching.
