Hi guys

Friend of mine was involved in an accident yesterday - luckily he's OK. All airbags apart from 1 had deployed as well as some nasty bodywork damage. I've heard that airbags are quite expensive to replace - would it be so expensive that the car is written off? Book value is around R140k

Very often the difference between a car being repaired and written off, apart from the usual mechanical/body damage, is whether or not the airbags deployed - so yes, they are that expensive.

Get an estimate on the fix & compare that to insured value. If the underlying structure is bent then it'll be difficult to fix & likely to be written off.
