Golf vs new Focus

Greetings all

Further to my post a while ago, I've narrowed down my selection of company car to the Golf TSI Comfortline or the new Focus 2.0 Sport.

Your thoughts, as always, appreciated.

Personally don't like the look of the new focus so would take a golf, as boring as they are.

Golf. Better fuel consumption, near equal torque output with a wider band. You said 2.0 Sport, so I presume you mean the manual?

Take both for a ride and decide which one you prefer to drive. I don't think there's a wrong choice between those two.

The focus looks much better in real life.
The sport is also pretty nippy and has decent features. Would definitely get that over the golf.

I would probably go for the Ford, less likely to get hijacked... Have you looked at the new Opel Astra? The 1.6T is a far more powerful car, and better looking IMHO, and cheaper than the 2.0 Ford.

I'd go for the Golf TSI purely cause I think VW's are better quality cars and you'll get better fuel consumption.

I don't like the interior of the Ford TBH. It looks too busy and I'm not a fan of those vertical vents.

Ford Focus.

Also look at:
Alfa Guilietta
Opel Astra
Kia Cerato Hatch (also really good looking, same features, same power, longer service plan and warranty and R30-40k cheaper.)

The interiors you are showing there are not standard. Especially not on the audi or golf. Expect to pay quite a bit more for your interior to look like that i think

The only thing not standard about the Audi interior pic is the satnav.

Thanks for the replys. Although I have not driven the Focus, I have sat in it and some fittings seem a tad plastic. The Golf has a better build quality but as mentioned, is a popular choice for stick-em-ups. I like the more plain look of the dash of the TSi as well. First prize would have been an A3 but they are dear with expensive options. Even the Golf TDI DSG is (just) out of my price bracket of R265 000.....

Satnav is not standard on any of them. Everything else looks as is. Oh and add MFS for the Golf, because that pic doesn't show it.

+1 It looks better than the Focus and Golf and you get a lot more bang for your buck.
