Six minutes. R400 000. And not a shot fired. This is the time it took a group of heavily armed gunmen to hold up staff at a Pretoria petrol station, blow up an FNB ATM and escape.

The daring robbery, carried out by five men with balaclavas, took place during the early hours of Wednesday at the Total Quagga Road petrol station.

The attack was one of two which took place in Gauteng during the early on Wednesday, with ATM bombers blowing up an Absa cash machine in Tembisa moments after the Kwaggasrand bombing.

The attacks bring the number of ATMs blown up in Gauteng in the past month to five.

The gang which carried out the Pretoria West bombing are, according to police, believed to be new to the ATM bombing scene and are thought to be from Atteridgeville.

Wielding semi-automatic assault rifles and handguns, CCTV footage from the garage’s security cameras shows the gunmen arriving in a white Toyota Corolla.

Where are the Bheki Cele fans who feel that the Commissioner has done "such a wonderful job?"

How is this his fault??

Not that I'm a fan of him, but your argument is pathetic.

Doesn't matter who the commissioner is or if the Queen has 7 heads. If someone wants to blow up an ATM, they're gonna blow up an ATM.

Well you have to admit 6 minutes to do all that is damn impressive.

Considering you walk into a walmart and buy guns in america i would not bitch and moan too much :D. For some reason i find it rather interesting more than shocking. These guys must be damn well drilled to pull it off in 6 minutes.

5 in a month? Wow epic, i wonder what you would like them to do bluno? put a cop at the 5500 atm's all over gauteng? What would you do if you were bheki?

Ummm .... ever heard of SAPS? Ever heard of crime intelligence and crime prevention? Ever heard of public policing?

Next you will tell me that people are free to rape/steal/kill/assault as they please, because it has nothing to do with the Commissioner of Police.

Do you think he was appointed just to groom him for INTERPOL?

What would you do if you were bheki?

Beg all the x-career cops (high ranking) that were let off to make way for lazy useless ANC cronies to come back and take actively part in running the police. Then I would quit my job and make sure one of these career cops, that know what the **** they are doing, gets my old job.

How is this his fault??

But if you are running the police like it should be, chances of catching these criminals would be infinitely better than it is now.

Once people know that it is very likely that they will be caught when committing a crime, they will be less likely to do said crime.

Oh please...

Police can't patrol every ATM 24/7. And your excuse to use "Next you will tell me that people are free to rape/steal/kill/assault as they please" as an argument is pathetic once again.

If a guy steals to avoid going hungry then its understandable, but these organized attacks by guys with expensive equipment is just pathetic.

Its more of a cultural minds set issue than policing imo.
