Gonna do my drivers (EC1) tomorrow

Would also like to know. My wife has an appointment at springs for 6 april.

Whats EC1 give you permission to drive?
Whats the normal code?

I also wanted to get a EC1, but the logistics are a pain in the arse. Good luck finding a driving school that even knows what an EC1 is.

A bit of history (for those that haven't been through this process). Before the card based licences, the main codes were 8, 10 and 14, which are equivalent to EB, EC1 and EC. ie: those codes allow the holder to tow a trailer exceeding 750 kg. When the cards were introduced, the rules changed, and now in order to get a "E" licence, you need to complete the test with the trailer attached. These days, the EC1 code is rare as it was basically only introduced to allow existing code 10 drivers to continue to tow heavy trailers, as they never had the option to do their licence test with a trailer.

The only reason I wanted a EC1 is because I want the option of towing a caravan behind a car (you need a "E" licence, ie EB, EC1 or EC); you don't get many articulated trucks GVM<16 000kg. In the end you only have two practical choices; C1 or EC. Nobody offers the others (EC1 and C). I got the C1 (and the PrDP). So now I can drive a truck up to 16 tons, but I still can't tow a caravan behind a car.

Sorry to spread bad news, but please tell us if you do find a school that offers EC1, I'm interested to know if there are any.

Edit: Sorry, didn't read the OP properly. You're going for your EC1 licence? How'd you get that right? Maybe it's a location thing.
