Hi all,

Need an Android phone for some dev and with my Vodacom contract expiring thought I'd bite the bullet.
Looking for something marginally smaller than the Xperia Z but not plastic like the S3+S4.

Was looking at the P6 but the lack of custom roms makes me give it a second look.
Any thoughts?

PS. I'm aware of the R799 vodacom phone but might use this as my primary from time to time so it has to be able to keep up.

I was really disappointed with the Xperia z the s4 is just much better IMO.
The new xperia Z1 might be worth a look but I have not looked into it much.

Saw a couple reviews and doesn't seem like a HUGE upgrade over the Z other than CPU wise. Rumor mill is a-foot with people saying the Z2 is already being looked into and could launch pretty soon.

Xperia V would be a very good choice for what you want to do.

There's also the P6.

Nexus 4? Can't get more current than that until the upgrade arrives...

Very happy with my nexus so far, Red bull mobile deal is pretty good.

honestly just use the S4.

because it is one of the Big 3 there is so much development happening for it.

Friend has the HTC one, its good, but rooting is a mission and you get into bootloaders and loose all data and and and.
Girlfriend has the xperia Z, Rooting still not completed ( I have spend way to much time trying to root it and gave up)

I have the S4, and honestly the "plastic" feel is a rumor, play with the device and make up your own mind before you say its plastic, it is a beautifully crafted phone that runs brilliantly and also rooting is a 2 min cake walk.

I mention Rooting so much because you said you want it for development.

+1000 S4 is amazing. I never thought I would like such a big phone but the slimness and feel makes it feel just right
