Working in the toll industry, we are liable for penalties if we don't deliver vehicle data on a regular basis.

As one of our clients' situated in an area where cable thieves ran rings round Telkom, we decided to install iBurst on site, after the third cable thievery.

At that time, iBurst was the best in its class, for price, reliability and speed.

At first things went well, we were able to deliver our files on time, and everybody was happy, because we now can log in to fix problems without having to wait for Telkom to replace/fix their cabling.

But then, cracks started to appear - first there was an ill wind sighing of people complaining that the accounts department doesn't do proper accounting. Which is confirmed by now.

Secondly, the peering link between iBurst and the rest of the SA networks occasionally gave problems, hindering us in our efforts to resolve the problems, and delivering files on a regular, timely basis.

A while ago, one of the routers packed up, and we're still waiting for a replacement.

Today, I am unable to log in - at all - to retrieve a configuration file from one of the computers.

So, predictively, when the contract expires, we will NOT renew it with iBurst again, but rather select either Telkom WiMAX, or Vodacom/MTN, or *gasp* Sentech, whichever will be the best price/performance option.

4 accounts cancelled thusly, all because of incompetence, and network issues/problems. Way to go.

And it doesn't stop here - word of mouth will spread the message far more efficiently than anything else...
