Feeling very old and backward here with my AMD 64bit 3.5+
Thinking of getting one of them new AMD quad cores ( i know they're not as fast as the intels but they offer more bang for buck i think ), anyway I'm thinking of getting the following:
MoBo: MSI K9A Platinum AMD CrossFire 580X Motherboard
CPU: AMD Phenom 9600
I'm mainly upgrading for gaming purposes. My current gfx card (7800gtx) will just have to do until I've recovered from this upgrade.
What do you guys think? has anyone here actually worked/played on one of these new phenoms? And am I going overboard with the mobo? (i'm quite clueless with mobo's at the moment
) Can anyone recommend any alternative setups (same price - better performace / same performance - better price)
Should cost me around 4 grand, maybe less if i wait a little since the Phenom has just come out. And I don't want to really go higher than that.
