I was just thinking, maybe its a good thing that the SNO has taken so long as WIFI and WiMax technology is becoming more of a option. This will rule out the last mile for alot of people, if the goverment decide to get sicky about it.

Teklom has prooven WiMax already - it's just a matter of who gets the licence for which regions ... I'd hate to be the people that must decide that.

Does that me only one region can have WiMax. You cant have two companies using the more or less the same band?

Don't you think that dsl or cable last mile latency will still be better than wimax or any other type of WIFI hybrid?

WiMax can use a whole host of frequencies, so it's not actually that that's the problem, it's ICASA. They have a directive to "spread instead of oversell". ie. They must ensure rapid deployment, and therefore they will not grant services to an area that is already serviced. This is contrary to our requirement of overservicing an area to ensure price drops, but it does fall in line with forcing countrywide deployment.

Cable latency is almost non existant. Wireless will always have latency - unless a channel is open and streaming. WiMax uses such channels, but I don't think that they'll ever have enough to cater for everybody, so latency will be get worse as more users start using.

Has Telkodemonoploy had a successful trial of anything... Isn't (A)DSL still a best effort service?
