Hi friendly forumites...haha...friendly...

I've never felt the need to buy a gaming keyboard. I've been pretty content using my R90 mouse and keyboard bundle. But now I think it is time for an upgrade.

The only reason for opening this thread is that I've never even touched a gaming keyboard. Seen them in boxes in store etc but honestly never touched one.

Are there any good keyboards you guys can recommend? Title suggests R650 budget but that is my total credit in eBucks so I can pay in a couple of hundred if need be.

If the shop does not support eBucks, I'd say my budget would be around R500 (cash, no ebucks).

I prefer wired keyboards as battery change mid game is just a nuisance!

I got Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator a few months ago, its a mouse and keyboard bundle. It feels great for the price and even though its not mechanical it doesn't still feel like a cheap generic one and its got back lit keys.

I got the blue version of that one and the lighting can be a bit too bright and distracting if the keyboard is in a dim lit environment more than 50cm's away from the screen. Otherwise, the feel of the keys and the size of them feel great.

I like that one. Has extra macros.

One more question that I thought I asked initially but worded it incorrectly.

Is it worth buying a gaming keyboard? Is there any major difference between lets say a R500 keyboard and a R500 gaming keyboard?

Is it just extra macro keys?

With the keyboard backlighting helps so much for when it's dark.

As for mouse you need those side buttons.

Thanks Chevron, can I use eBucks on those sites?

I'm quite a big fan of gigabyte. This one looks pretty good.

I actually really like that it uses scissor keys.

More keyboards need to use scissor keys.

I'm not even following my own specs. It is wireless :(.

Careful, the wireless one doesn't have backlighting.

I was about to order the wired one, saw the wireless one on takelot & ordered that instead without realising it comes sans backlighting. Returning it this week.

Takealot only ha sthe K3 in wired. Not the K7.

Yeah I've changed my wording since.

I was looking to buy the K7 wired from titan-ice.co.za but was about to checkout another order from takelot, so when I saw the wireless version on takelot I included it without realising they have the wired version (showing backlight) as the first image.

My fault, their fault, don't really care it's going back.

The lighting doesn't bother me to be honest. bought the wired one that fastesthamster suggested. All I care for is ease of typing and playing. Lights are an extra.
