Lightning sent our current Samsung CLX 6260FW to printer heaven and we need to get a new all in one printer.

Budget is up to R10k. Requirements

  • Colour
  • Duplex Scanning
  • Duplex Printing
  • Low Running Costs (Laser tends to be bit more expensive in this area.)

Also do the newer inkjet printer cartridges still run dry if you don't use them for a while? This was my main reason for going with a laserjet previously as the toner cannot dry out.

The Epson WF-5620DWF looks like a very good option.

Did a quick price check search and prices range from R2000 to & R5000.

Anyone used pcshopper.co.za?

What duty cycle?

Hp has an officejet pro 477 something or other.
There are actually more than one model with similar name.

Seperate cartridges x 4 colours.

Not many pages less than 5000 per month. The duplex scanning is important though.

The Epson L655 looks good but I can't figure out if it has duplex scanning.

Whatever printer you take, please consider the monthly duty cycle.

If the cycle is far to low you could end up with a printer that constantly needs attention as it cannot perform.

This one looks like a good option. Duplex scanning.

The MFP M377dw doesn't look like it has duplex scanning?

You could also look at the ink tank printers for low cost printing e.g Epson ink tank L386. At PC Link computers with the R400 Epson cash back it is effectively R2600:

Paper / Media Handling
Number of paper trays:- 1
Paper Formats:- A4, A5, A6, B5, C6 (Envelope), DL (Envelope), No. 10 (Envelope), Letter, 10 x 15 cm, 13 x 18 cm, 16:9, User defined, Legal
Duplex:- Manual
Output Tray Capacity:- 30 Sheets
Paper Tray Capacity:- 100 Sheets Standard, 100 Sheets maximum, 20 Photo Sheets

Above I quoted specs from Epson.

While it can scan both sides of a page.... It will need a human to stay next to the printer, flip the pages and tell it to scan again

In some office environs that is not ideal

Anyone used pcshopper.co.za?

It does look like an interesting site. Never seen it before, so would too be curious of any others having experience with them.

pcshopper.co.za is where I baught my Epson L565 ink tank 6 months or so ago, got the best price from them and very good service.
Look at the Epson ink tank range, whether they have something which will suit your needs. In terms of print cost per page, replacing ink etc, it's the best you'll find. I'm very happy with my L565, using it in my small office, paper cost us more than the ink.

I looked and the tank range but I could not find one below R10k that had duplex scanning as far as I could tell.

Thanks for this thread, sorry fro the divert, but I'm also looking at the Epson L565 and purchasing via pclinkshop.co.za.
Anyone that can vouch for: 1) pclinkshop.co.za or 2) pcshopper.co.za as I'm in CT.
Thanks!

As said I baught my L565 from pcshopper.co.za end of last year and had great service.

@bigboy529 thanks, I saw and fully read your original post, hence my question.
I just was trying to see if anyone else had a similar good or a bad from them,(one swallow does not a summer make) and the pclinkshop.co.za as their price was very good.
I have made very very few online purchases and am a bit cautious.
