Good TV Tuner Software? & non-working cyberlink stuff..

Hey all

I've got a TV card which came with this crap Cyberlink software which doesnt seem to want to run on my PC.
Does anyone know a good TV card software package i can download to be able to view and record tv and also listen to the radio. I'd also like to edit the recorded stuff so i can make nice illegal versions of music vids and stuff Any Suggestions?


Has any1 had the same probelm of Cyberlink software (Like PowerDVD) not working on their PC or have an idea of why it wont work? My systems an AMD 64 X2 4200, asus mobo... not much else goin on dont think. Its strange cause the software works fine on a centrino laptop and P4 PC

I also got a AMD 64 3gig and i am using PowerDVD 6 and PowerVCR with my tv card and it works great. I dont have problems with Cyberlink software and i also use the software that i got with my tv/radio card

I fiddled enough with one for some time. Was generally quite happy with it. It was a Leadtek Winfast TV2000. This card doesn't have any onboard compression, so fine for recording if you don't have less than a p4. It was relatively inexpensive (R390 or so). It came with pretty good software and a very good remote control, but I was more impressed with XP Media center edition or Showshifter (if you don't want to do the XP media center upgrade). The remote that comes with it doesn't work with media center or showshifter - get a generic remote for the PC if you want to use the remote.

The Leadtek Winfast PVR card is really great - it worked seamlessly with XP Media center edition, showshifter and the software that came with the card - even on an older AMD Duron 850Mhz machine. Recorded flawlessly because of the onboard compression. It also allows full PVR functionality - you can pause live TV, record while you watch, etc. No performance problems, bur almost R1000 for the card.

You may be able to do the full PVR thing with the first card if your machine is up to speed - P4 with 512 Mb RAM?

I'm currently using fly2000tv to replace the crappy software that
came with my card, also, that was one of the only apps that worked with my phillips chip.

Dont know if you know Girder? its a nifty remote app which can just
about control anything on you PC.

Unfortunatly these aren't free.
