Goodbye Hyundai Atos

For posterity, it should be on this list:

Wife bought the previous model (a 2012).

Terrible camber angle ate many tyres but once that was resolved no issues.

In for it's 195k service today.

Oh, it cost her R85K to give an idea how the price jumped from the one model to the next.

I bought a demo 2022 model a few weeks ago. The dealership gave me a good trade in for my Tata Bolt which was giving issues and no spare parts for it. I am growing very fond of my new little Atos.

Warrappen to your Bolt, Ockie? Congrats on the new wheels

Well...two years ago or so the turbo blew...Wich cost like 24 grand which I am still paying my partner back for...the this Feb it cost another 13 grand for a big service and cam belt which I now have to pay back to my sister. The air on was no longer working and they said it needs a new tappet cover or something like that but can't get the parts. I even tried a contact that works for Tata but the truck decision and she also could not help. So thought while Hyundai gives me a good trade deal where I can put a deposit down on the new car I better take it. Oh and the Bolts engine were starting to make a strange noise when starting it in the morning and sometimes while driving. Was starting to make me very apprehensive.

Thank you for the congrats.

Congrats on the new wheels, not trying to bring up old wounds but that’s a kark lot of coin for a cheapie B-segment hatch (the Bolt)!

The Atos should be most definitely minimal hassles in the longer term.

I cant make out but does the infotainment have AA & CP?

In your pic it looks like you’re getting around 4.8 to the 100 gas mileage (as the Muricans say).

Also there is an extensive Atos (badged Santro in India) thread already if you wish to document stuff.

Joh, that is bad luck. But in this case it's good that you could get rid of it, before the issues got worse.

Hyundai do make solid cars, so I think you are in good company in that regard.

By that I assume you mean Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It does indeed have both...but have not figured out how it works. Have plugged my Samsung into the USB port but both stays greyed out on the infotainment screen and won't open. As they say....RTFM. just need to make the time.

Ok so I have now tried the original Samsung cable that came with my phone and AA becomes available on the infotainment screen but when I select it, the infotainment screen flickers and goes blank. Mmm ... Any ideas?

Yip....that is right. Since that pic I am now on almost half a tank and it is still on average 4.8l/100km which I think is awesome. That is with mixed highway driving and suburbs and aircon on.

Forgot to post update here. My phone out of the blue came up with a notification I can now use android auto and to plug my phone in. It did not work before...but thought what the hell. Let me give it a go. Low and behold it worked. I love it.

Little at Atos went in for first 15 000km service today. It did not have a service indicator on the computer screen at all. When I got the car back they must have updated firmware or something because now it shows how many days left and how many kilometres left till next service. Cool.

Glad I bought extended service plan. Still have 30 000 and 45 000 that will be covered. Guy showed me the invoice. About R1 900.00 for the service.

That's what they paid, if you were to do it, it'll be more
