The Time Has Come:

Goodbye to Neotel.

1. Device was delivered on time!
2. Billing did not include any credits on the account!
3. Speed started to degrade!
4. Broken promises and lies!
5. Antenna's, Techs having no clue, and overall no response!
6. Coverage Map suddenly changes from Excellent to Good.
7. Speed from 100, then 50, then 45, then 30 , then 20 and finally 0 - 5.

Neotel REP, as per Y, Cancellation.

To the rest still on neotel - GOOD LUCK

To everyone else- be very careful.

Towards end of 2008, I approached Neotel, querying their wireless offerings. They could not even tell me (amongst other questions) what the replacement cost of the 'device' would be if damaged or stolen.
Overall negative experience made me cancel any thoughts of using Neotel, and I went the big V's non-contract 3G route.
Very happy since then.
Neotel can forget about doing any business we me, ever.

Hi there.

What is the procedure to cancel?
It's been about 1 month since we've got Unlimited Prime.
Service degraded so much that my internet connection dies/stops after around 5 minutes which I have to reconnect again to have internet again.
Which means I can't really use this internet.

I am not going to pay penalty for canceling early as service provided by Neotel is not what I have signed up or advertised or promised for.

I rather have R999 worth of something else even if it's capped or limited at least I will be able to use the cap.

Left Neotel to go to Telkom. I will never look back.

Did you know - Telkom ACTUALLY logs your request on the helpdesk? :-)

Neotel has been the biggest mistake and waste of money I ever made.

I knew It sound to good to be true in the beggining... Thats why I don't mind to stick with telkoms problems. Its atleast what they good at... And you learn alot from them to :D:p:o

I'm on the lite package, and have no reason to get prime as it doesnt seem to be that much faster (from all the complaints i've read). The device disconnects alot especially when i'm not downloading anything and merely browsing. Sometimes the connection gets slower to the point it hardly responds, and I'm resorted to pull the USB plug out the back of the device, and switch it off, and on again.

Speed has been roughly the same since i got the device several months ago - so no complaints there, just that 17Kbs is slow!

Overall the device IMO is cheap crap - Neotel really did bad research on devices! They should really allow us to buy the device we want and issue us Sim cards, that way we can buy a decent device!... I bet anything that the device is half the problem! Cheap Shyte!

Neotel could win so many people over its not even funny. I mean lets face it, the pricing is quite good, if the product only performed as the advert said. "average of 350kbps to 700kbps with a peak of 2400kbps speed on the PrimeUncapped"

Lite is average of 150kbps which should give around 17kb per second (so LabAnimal your speed sounds about right)

But ye, as u've all read by now. Service is poor, Speeds is slow, COnnections dropping very very often etc.etc. It makes for a very bad overall experience.

I do remember alot of people said it was awesome at 1st and then the speed slowed down dramatically. I think its due to the massive amount of people contending for the same bandwidth. Lets hope it all gets better, cause i don't think Neotel thought they had such a big demand at 1st.

My 2cents ;)

Just be aware that you need to pay for the cost of the device. Even if you had it for 1 minute. Thats about R1400 if your on month 1.

For me, Neotel is the better devil, had more cr@p with Telkom than with Neotel and I live 700m from their main exchange.
