ADSL is so much better!!
I thought so too. I've been on Sentech for 3 years and decided to migrate 2 months ago. Got myself an OpenWeb Uncapped 512 account. I was surprised to find that my ADSL was significantly slower than Sentech. Sure, Sentech runs at 1mbps where my ADSL is at 512 but the difference in speed is really noticeably superior on Sentech. Maybe it's because the Sentech network is very under-utilised these days?

For example, I only fired up my Sentech modem yesterday for the first time in September. Before 24 hours had passed, I was done with my 10GB cap, using eMule. I have not come close to 10GB per day on ADSL. The best I've seen is 4.5GB p/d.

The only reason why I'm going to cancel my Sentech contract is because of the ridiculous R1 per meg that they charge when you exceed your cap.

Try the 4M connection.Totally blazing!!! :)

Not so fond farewell

Got ADSL this morning and packed up my Sentech modem. ADSL is so much better!!

I've also confirmed my cancellation today with Nowire. The end of some very painful memories. I was just waiting for a better deal to come up.

I've been getting great speeds and low latencies on the yellow side. My Huawei 220 modem self loads the drivers onto XP and Win 2000 so I can move it from my PC to my notebook and take it when I travel.

Surfs up

Wireless really suck ***** :-(((

Except maybe for Wimax.

Glad you stopped throwing money out of the window.

I'm about to get Wireless. Its Prepaid.

It costs only R350 PM(just like a 1GB vodacom data bundle does)

I get 128Kbit Upload and
128Kbit Download.

The speeds are constant. Acording to a friend of mine. They allow streaming and torrents even.

UNCAPPED. Which internet companies are the slow ones then? Sentech probably.

But my Wireless isn't using public towers I think.

Prepaid and uncapped? Doesn't make sense. What is prepaid then, since uncapped means you don't have to buy bandwidth.

ADSL with WebAfrica still beats every package available in SA. Only pay Telkom and then buy bandwidth from WebAfrica @ R70/1Gb as you need it.

I will be paying the company R350 per month for Uncapped net with 128Kbit speed. I dont need to sign any contracts. And they install it immediately. as in 24 hours lol - This is only in PTA west and North I believe. Lots of people are using it there alreaddy.

I am in PTA east. Hoping to get it set up at my house as well.

Just not my ideal Gaming speed though. What will my ping be on Saix server? 128up and 128 down no reservation of the link

You sure about that Hex? Cause the uncapped solutions at the moment are in the R1000 per month region.

heh, I knew this would hit some people on the forehead.

Getting Uncapped net is not difficult really. You can use your DSTV Satelite with Overseas Providers to get it done. Infosat.co.za used to have information on this but seemed to have gone under. * EDIT * Bought by Sentech

This is a group of 60 companies who are working together. So I'm betting they too are using international ISP with some satelites.

Its completely uncapped! No limitations, a lot of Encrypted p2p programs work on it.

This is so cool. Don't ya think? Giving you the option to pay them per month as you go. If the signal is bad then you can stop payment the next month and try something different.

Btw their 1MBit uncapped connection is also R1700 so its not really that great. But its perfect for Internet surfing ppls and casual pirates :)

here it is : dotshop.co.za Sad to say my friend just informed me as from today no more uncapped lines.

Oh this is giving me a head ache. He advised us to find this guy : GRANT TYSON, ceo of globalwebintact. Who is the force behind this operation.

And get him to reconsider his move from Uncapped.

R350mb for 128Kb capped is useless to me.
