I run through those minutes and text messages in less than a day sometimes! I would say that R70.00 per month would be value for money.

Sadly, their customer service philosophy is poor and their service is one of the poorest in the world with stop/start data flow and mega-slow speeds. There comes a point where the problems simply outweigh the cost benefits.:sick:

Service in general in SA is quite hit & miss I'm afraid. (I'm here 2 yrs now so feel I can comment) I do apologise if this comment offends some - its just how I experience it.

I've had dealings in the past with Cell C, MTN and Vodacom. All were pretty hopeless. You usually end up talking to someone who knows less than you do and getting frustrated.

I ruled out Virgin (& Cell C) for data because of poor coverage. Mainly only Edge coverage. Also, I wanted a replacement for Iburst, and did not need ad-hoc or occasional use.

I settled on Vodacom because from the outset they offered 2Gb for R389 as opposed to MTN's rather reluctant: R389 for 1Gb + 1Gb free (at the time)

Also, MTN seem to have a bizarre policy that you can only buy 1 bundle a month. If you use it up you have to wait until the month is up or pay R2 per Mb. Vodacom allows you to buy a new bundle as soon as your bundle is depleted.

For those who are interested (off topic) here is a link to a photo of the current call rates - all providers. It's a photo 'cos I can't upload the doc. :(
 
Haha. Last night at 23:15 my port was completed. Goodbye Virgin Mobile. Just loaded an SMS bundle and got everything else sorted out. Goodnight and goodbye forever!

You just need a collection of SIMs (a farm) and use them when needed. At less than R1 it's no biggie.

We can find the rates easily - no need to post pics.

Downloading on Virgin is like giving a vagrant behind a bottle store money every day.

With data Virgin Mobile its up one day fast...other day its dc dc dc
