Hi,

Just need some opinions on tyres,
Car is a Polo Vivo (185/60/R15)

Currently got Continental Conti Premium contact 5.

Options
1) Continental Conti Premium contact 2. R5600 fitted(balanced, alignment, valves etc)
2) Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 R4500 fitted(balanced, alignment, valves etc)
3) Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance R5000 fitted(balanced, alignment, valves etc)

I like Continental, and I got decent mileage, grips well in both wet and dry weather.

The continentals are the better tire in my opinion. The Hankooks are fine as well, in my experience they are not as good in the wet but a decent tire. The goodyears I've tried were never great so see what others think about them.

Prefer brands like Falken and Achilles , may not be everyones cup of tea but it grips like Staedtler on page , remember back in the days we drew on paper  - just my 2 cents and Edward can have 0.003 at 15% from the 2 cents

This is a very good site to read other user's comments. It looks like the Hankooks are the better option.

I would also look at these.

I have been running Falken tyres for many years on various vehicles, and i swear by them.

I had my Touareg in mind when I looked at the pricing and thought it didn't look too bad per tyre and then I realised that is for all four for your Polo  I'd choose the Continental out of the three you are looking at, I do like Pirelli and the current Bridgestone's on my Touareg seem to be holding up well.

Our work vans run on Continental tires, and we’ve been getting punctures far too often, even on tires with plenty of tread left.
We drive on a mix of paved roads and gravel roads.
It’s gotten bad enough that we’ve decided to switch all the vans over to Goodyear.

Softer the tyre the more grip and the less mileage you will get.
Also how do people drive that you worry about grip?
If you drive like a civilized adult and your thread is good, you will never care about grip.

You feel it in wet weather. If you've seen the news about Durban/ KZN, you'll know it gets flooded pretty often. Water on the M13 always pools, and aquaplaning is pretty common on that motorway.

Not everything is about driving fast and recklessly.

Aquaplaning has nothing to do with the grip your tyres have.
You driving on public roads not a race track.

Aquaplaning will happen easier if your thread is low and the wider your tyres the bigger chance of aquaplaning

Driving within the speed limit on tight bends you can feel it
The GTI has Achilles I can feel it grip the road , the A6 has Conti's and you can feel it slide a bit. Also the Contis are a harder compound compared to the Achilles. I would prefer a softer compound , only reason I have Contis on is because they dealer fitted them prior to me taking delivery of the car. Next set is definately Falkens - had them on my E36 once many moons ago and if they are still up to the same grip and quality that would be my go to and they not that expensive compared to your main stream brands well they werent back in the days

I run good year efficient grip performance on my a4. I'm on my 3rd or 4th set i replace tyres every year and half.

i used to have premium contact 2 a long time ago ran two sets of them, couldn't figure out why they wore out so quickly. Read reviews of others complaining about the same issue.

Took the Goodyears before the performance variant came out and immediately noticed a bit improvement on noise, wet grip and lifespan.

Early batches of the performance ones had very soft sidewalls and I picked up punctures alot but the last 2 sets iv had no issues

Again. Why do you drive like that on public roads? If the speed limit is 60 in town I am not going to try do 60 around a 90deg turn, because the speed limit says so.
Driving like that you endanger others and worse, its lekker common/zef.
Public roads are not wannabe racer's playground. You don't drive to see how fast you can make the corner. if its wet you drive slower.
But your view is probably why we have such high road deaths in this country.

I cheaped out on chinese auto grip 500 tyres once.where okay in dry but in the wet it's like you had no control.

Almost killed myself on that sharp bend infront of westwood.

Never again will I run cheap crap tyres, it's your life on the line. You need to swerve to avoid a potential accident ,brake at last minute in the wet .
There's so many variables other than going fast.
Every input you try transfer to the road is done through a tyre with the contact surface the size of your hand

I dont think you are comprehending the point i am talking about driving within the speed limits. I didnt say anything about driving like a maniac. I am guessing you not a car guy. All car guys have an idea what every wheel is doing at what point. You can be doing 40 on a hair pin bend with 60 being the limit you will notice when your tyres are not holding

Yes I am not a car guy. But being a "car" guy does not mean you are a good driver and not being a "car" guy does not mean you are a bad driver. In fact I will bet "car" guys are the worst drivers out there.
I don't think you are comprehending the point.
Public roads are not racetracks. At no point is there a need to push your car in order to feel your tyres are not holding on public roads.
I have been driving for decades. If you have any normal tyre in good condition, you really have to drive like a maniac for your tyres to lose grip.
If it rains there are obviously less grip, there is obviously also less visibility. So you don't go looking for tyres with more grip to enable you to corner hard in the rain. You rather drive slower like a mature responsible adult.
