Google 2 step verification sms not coming through

For the last week I haven't been receiving my Google 2 step verification codes via SMS. Instead I've had to rely on having it sent via phone call or use a backup code sometimes. I don't know if this is an issue with Google or MTN, perhaps?

I've had problems like this before, but not for this amount of time. Anyone else out there getting the same?
 
Do you own an Android phone perhaps? You could download the Google Authenticator application. It generates codes.
 
I've had the same problems recently - also MTN. It's annoying, but the phone call is really cool (and costs them more :)...).
 
No, it's a Sony Ericsson. Not a new phone by any means. Hey, you're right TheMightyP. Have you noticed the voice is sometimes different nowadays? Why is it that there are always different numbers, and sometimes it says number withheld or diverted call? Meant to happen?
 
I have the same issue sometimes the sms come through, sometimes not, but I haven't kept track if I am then on the 8ta or mtn network at the time.

As previously mentioned, the voice call works flawless, and you get a few seconds free air time the next month if you on 8ta per second.

Not sure about the voice - haven't paid attention to how it sounds, but the last time the call came through, the number displayed was "0000" - which I thought was very odd!
 
Today my codes seem to be coming through via SMS. Whatever it was, it seems to have been fixed.

Update: Now they're not coming in via SMS. But calls work fine, so whatever.
