If you are having problems with GMail check the HTTPS settings, can cause problems for some people:

To disable or re-enable this feature in Gmail:

Sign in to Gmail.
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Set 'Browser Connection' to 'Don't use https' or 'Always use https.'
Click Save Changes.
Manually change the URL to http://mail.google.com to start accessing Gmail via http.

No problems with gmail or google here. The gmail app has been updated, but that shouldn't be a problem.

the google chat drops out from time to time, for the rest... it's ok

Google are currently updating gmail, might be the cause, but I have been using it for most of the day and have had no problems.

Just tried. Seems Google has "trimmed their pixels" and has a new look.

Try using the dsl-cache.saix.net:8080 HTTP proxy if you're on SAIX/Telkom DSL.
