Google at work on desktop Linux

This has already been discussed in the "Cosmonaut takes on Windows" thread with more details available on "Engadget".

The official word from Google is:
Google spokeswoman Sonya Borälv says that "[w]e use Ubuntu internally but have no plans to distribute it outside of the company."
Either way, as you said Google could just be the thing that gives Ubuntu the momentum it needs. It is however still a while away from the envisaged Windows replacement for the non tech-savvy user.

One thing to note is most of the software in the "Google Pack" is windows only and the "Google Pack" itself is only available for Windows XP.
