Google CEOs Facebook fixation

Google co-founder Larry Page has a Facebook fixation. When he replaced his mentor Eric Schmidt as Google’s CEO last April, Page insisted that the company had to be more aggressive about countering the threat posed by Facebook’s ever-growing popularity...

Its just too much of a shlep adding new friends on Google +, when facebook is fully functional and right there.

In FB I tend to interact and follow friends and family. I prefer not to 'like' pages from companies, celebrities, etc. or comment on news sites with my FB name, as it is open to all my 'friends' to see. Recipe for unintended embarrassment.

In + I "follow" some people, are "friends" with some and only "acquainted" with others. Before I share anything, I have to select who can see it. This frees me up to follow new people/blogs/sites. Sharing of photographs is even more important. I can choose to share pics of the children only with family or close friends. No complaints by the children that their baby pics are all over the internet when they are teenagers.

I know FB has the same functionality, but it is hidden so deeply, I can't be bothered to figure it out and manage it all the time.

Also, + is a bit more geeky, so much less status updates on baby nappies, visits to the dentist and "good morning honey, I love you so much that I want to tell the whole interwebs how hot you were last night!"
