Google: Chinese hackers broke into Gmail

Erm that headline is incorrect in so many ways.

They didn't break into anything, they stole passwords via phishing and got access using the passwords. Totally different to breaking into Gmail and yes it does matter, as passwords used for Gmail is the same ones used for Android Accounts.

Shame on headline attention snag.
 
Heading should be: Chinese phishers dupe idiots to give out passwords.

Current heading is pure sensationalism.
 
Hmmm, I'm pretty sure they have also been using brute force and dictionary attacks against the password servers.
I've had about three or four friends whose dormant old e-mail accounts have been taken over by hackers.
 
interesting - one of my throwaway gmail accounts was recently accessed from the US for the purposes of spamming, the password for that account was 15 characters long. Made no difference. There is a hole somewhere in the system.
 
I had my gmail account hacked last year. The report came from Netherlands :wtf:

my password consisted of Upercase,lowercase and numerics.

definitely a loop in the system.
