Google Chrome ends support for important ad blocker-related feature

Google went from "Don't be evil" to "Only be evil"

Search AI is one of the reasons I stopped using chrome and google altogether.
I hate that all this AI stuff is forced onto us.

Firefox with "Block AI enhancements" turned on.
Linux on home pc and trying to convince my company to install it on my work notebook as well.

I am not against AI, but I want to use it when I want to use it.

Me too. In this case I've also found the compulsory AI responses annoying, now just ignore.

Thing is, google search still mostly gives me best results so have largely given up using other search options.
 
Google has gotten worse over the years. We really need a non american tech solution

Its not just that, its the parts that you cant see that are still consuming resources and malfunctioning and consuming RAM.

I had to allow two 3rd party ad-trackers at a client's work location (they order office food from there) because the way woolworths has their site coded, if you block the ad provider at a firewall level, the whole website's javascript crashes and renders as a blank page.

I think one of the e-commerce frameworks they use might be doing this on purpose. If you run an DNS based ad and tracking blocker, they silently fail the entire website.
