Google Chrome to warn users against websites not using HTTPS

Well SSL is not really cheap so perhaps they will drop those prices a bit.

Sorry? Not cheap? Ever heard of let's encrypt? Free SSL certs seem cheap to me?

I am not going to fire up a VPS every-time I make a website.

and running 400 odd websites aint cheap if you need a SSL one for each

On a side note, does lets encrypt show a green bar? If it does I might move all accross to a VM and load lets encrypt

You don't need a VPS to make use of Let's encrypt. A simple Google search will bring up tutorial on how you can use Let's encrypt with Shared Hosting.

Greenbar yes or no? also it's only valid for 90 days that is way to much effort to renew it manually a few times a year on multiple websites

I just use payfast to handle all that stuff since they have the greenbar

I don't get the importance of a green address bar. Google Apps doesn't have a Green Address bar, so why is it important?

Until PCI puts EV as a minimum standard for anyone accepting payments online.
