Over the last 2 weeks I have been having trouble opening www.google.co.za. I get "webpage not avalible" after a few seconds. Very frustraing. Default browser is Chrome but have tried all the other browsers same problem. Other pages open just fine. DNS is set to auto, ISP is TELKOM 10meg ADSL. Anyone else having trouble?

Is your PC date and time correct?

Telkom Wholesale were clearing IP blocks and it caused a problem a week or two ago. Reboot your modem - leave it off for a minute or two before restarting it. This should sort out the IP address issue.

What does PC's onboard date and time have to do with loading a webpage?

Google uses HTTPS (SSL) by default and the browser needs the local time/date to determine if the SSL certificate is valid.

Payback: Is the DNS set to auto on the PC or router, or both?

Been having the same problem recently, with today being the worst so far.
Router was rebooted, and that did not help.

1. What are your DNS settings (IP)
2. What IP is allocated to you? (Don't publish it, but if it starts with 212, then you have a problem).

^^ That, I had a few customers with incorrect date which gives certificate error,
I know not a "webpage not available" but I just asked...

SAIX IP's are starting with 222 now?

Where did you hear about this problem?

We are seeing a lot of users being migrated from the older BRASs/ESRs to BNGs. There seem to be some issues introduced by the migrations.

Also, this triggers deployment of IP blocks to the BNGs, in some cases without IPs having been recovered from the BRASs/ESRs. In this event you will receive a weird IP (I think at present 212.212.212.* or similar) and won't be able to go anywhere. Reset every few minutes until you get a more similar IP to what ypu usually get.

We are currently recovering IP blocks (some users may be disconnected to get an IP in a more populated block).
