bmerry was a Com Sci student from UCT. To call him ridiculous would be a gross understatement. Other students went so far as to make up "Chuck Norris"-style jokes about him (link).

There's also a video of one of the finals he competed in, it's quite funny to see commentators and spectators at a programming event.
