There are cheap headsets like this all over the show in SA. All you need is a good cell phone.

Can you watch movies with this? Not necessarily that that view will change as you move your head, but just for the full view aspect?

The hololens is a totally different beast, its Augmented Reality (AR), not comparable to a VR headset.

As to watching movies on any of these cheap things.
I have the original cardboard. And while it's nice for a proof of concept it's terrible for watching anything.
